A certain amount of material funds, i.e., alimony, is collected from the father or mother who has not voluntarily fulfilled the obligation to provide support to their minor children based on the decision of the court or the order of the court.
The obligations of parents to pay alimony and provide maintenance to their minor children are equal. That is, alimony can be collected not only from the father, but also from the mother.

Parents have the right to mutually agree on the procedure for paying alimony for their minor children.

If there is no agreement between the parents on the maintenance of their minor children, alimony for their maintenance is determined by the court as 4/1 part of the monthly salary and (or) other income of the parent for one child, 3/1 part for two children, three 2/1 per child and more.

The amount of alimony may be reduced or increased by the court, taking into account the financial or family situation of the parties and other noteworthy circumstances.

The amount of alimony collected from the father or mother for each child should not be less than 26.5% of the minimum amount of labor remuneration established by law.

Not only parents, but also adult, able-bodied children are obliged to provide for and care for their incapacitated, needy parents.

If the person who is obliged to pay alimony did not work during this period or documents confirming his salary and (or) income were not submitted, alimony is calculated according to the average monthly salary in the Republic of Uzbekistan at the time of collection of the alimony debt.

If a person does not pay alimony for more than 2 months after being held administratively liable for non-payment of alimony, he may be held liable under Article 122 of the Criminal Code.
